Opportunities

Since launching our Talkline in 2021, we’ve supported people from all walks of life—whether they’ve had an abortion, are considering one, or are supporting someone else through their decision. We’re now looking for a Talkline Lead to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a vital, growing service and help shape its future.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead, support, and nurture our amazing team of volunteers.

  • Coordinate recruitment and training of new volunteers each year.

  • Oversee the smooth running of our Talkline, ensuring callers get the best possible support.

  • Monitor feedback and data to help us learn and improve.

  • Safeguard callers, volunteers, and data, making sure we always work to the highest standards.

  • Build relationships with organisations who refer people to the Talkline.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience managing a helpline or support service.

  • Experience supervising and working in partnership with volunteers.

  • Strong empathy, listening, and communication skills.

  • A proactive and organised approach to coordination.

  • Confidence using online tools (Google Drive, Sheets, email, call apps).

  • A strong commitment to pro-choice values, inclusion, and our mission.

Experience in abortion-related services is a bonus, but not essential.

Why join us?

  • Flexibility: you’ll have autonomy over your hours and how you deliver the role.

  • Impact: you’ll play a key part in shaping a growing, much-needed service.

  • Purpose: you’ll help ensure people have a safe, supportive space to talk about their abortion experiences.

How to apply

Send your CV, two professional references, and a short cover email or letter answering the two questions in the role description to info@abortiontalk.com.

Closing date: Tuesday 30 September at 9am.
